Rethinking vocational training from a territorial perspective: three innovative examples from Burkina Faso, Cameroon and Senegal
The adequacy between training needs and the offers proposed by the traditional structures of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is not always met. This is why more and more training offers are emerging from private companies or civil society, from a local perspective. Discover three examples of innovative training offers in Burkina Faso, Cameroon and Senegal.
In June 2017, IIEP-UNESCO Dakar launched a call for proposals under its component three "Support for innovation" of the Pefop, with the aim of identifying and supporting innovative initiatives in relation to the implementation of renewed vocational training policies. For these three projects, IIEP-UNESCO Dakar's support aims to build the capacities of the actors, finalize the tools and frameworks of intervention and produce documentation to inspire the spin-off and deployment on a larger scale of the innovative practices of these projects.
- The first project, implemented by the Christian Relief and Development Organization (CREDO) in Burkina Faso, aims to promote the employability of youth through specific support provided by the NGO's Service de Placement d'Emploi et de Développement d'Entreprises (SPEDE);
- The second project is implemented by the Fédération régionale des écoles familiales agricoles du Grand Nord (FEREFAN) in Cameroon. It consists of developing training modules for rural entrepreneurs in family schools in northern Cameroon;
- Finally, the third project is implemented by the Société de développement et des fibres textiles (SODEFITEX) in Senegal and consists in delivering vocational training in local languages in the Southern Third of Senegal.
