CALL FOR APPLICATIONS - ETHIOPIA: Study on the schemes for trainers and supervisory staff in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)

This study is being carried out simultaneously in three other countries of sub-Saharan Africa (Benin, Madagascar and Senegal), managed by an international consultant.

                                             Applicants interested in this mission will find all the details in the Terms of Reference, which can be downloaded via the following link.

The national consultation is scheduled for 35 people/day spread over 6 months, from February to July 2021. The deadline for submitting your application is Sunday 31 January 2021, at midnight UTC.

Description of the Mission:

The countries of sub-Saharan Africa are increasingly committed to improving the quality of their vocational training offer. This is to expand opportunities for people trying to access the labour market. Nevertheless, the technical and vocational education and training (TVET) offer is only very inadequately meeting the economy's current labour-force needs. It is also facing various challenges, including with regard to quality and relevance. Faced with this challenge, there are ongoing changes in the missions, functions and diversity of educational staff. This diversity is reflected by the emergence of new trainer categories, such as business professionals, apprenticeship or internship instructors, tutors, and temporary teachers, who are not always trained in the trainer profession they are called to exercise, etc. These changes are also marked by the use of technology and the development of online training. This requires teaching skills and management appropriate to constant changes in teaching methods.

In this context, IIEP-UNESCO Dakar wishes to enlist the services of a national consultant to carry out the study at Ethiopia level, in close collaboration with the international consultant responsible for managing and coordinating the study in all four countries.

The application portfolio should comprise:

  • A CV containing web links to similar study reports whose main author is the applicant;
  • A 2-3 page methodology note summarizing the applicant's understanding of the mission (priorities, work approaches, challenges to be met, national partner engagement strategy;
  • A financial offer separate from the technical offer;

The complete application should be sent to the following address: etude.formateurs@iiep.unesco.org by midnight UTC on Sunday 31 January 2021 at the latest.
