UNESCO-UNEVOC TVET Leadership Programme

Global (online)
From 21 May 2021 to
30 November 2021

Scope:
Global
Organizer(s):
UNESCO-UNEVOC

Context:

The COVID-19 pandemic has sped up the process of digitalization in the labour market. In the future, 9 out of 10 jobs will require digital skills. Workers will need to learn new skills for these jobs or adapt to the technological changes within their current roles. The digital transformation calls for upskilling and reskilling of workers, the development of entrepreneurial competencies, and the provision of career guidance, particularly for unemployed youth.

TVET systems need to respond to these changing skills demands. But while the pandemic has led to a major shift towards distance learning and a focus on building digital capacities, many countries have struggled to implement online learning programmes. The pandemic has exposed existing vulnerabilities and highlighted the importance of strengthening TVET institutions to meet the demands of the digital transformation.

In this context, the 2021 UNESCO-UNEVOC TVET Leadership Programme focuses on Skills for the digital transformation: How TVET institutions can respond to future demands.

Discussed subjects:

  • The impact of the digital transformation on labour markets. How can TVET systems respond to future demands? What are the digital skills required?
  • The link between the digital transformation and sustainable development. How can institutions harness the digital transformation to contribute to sustainable development?
  • Strengthening TVET institutions. How can institutions be strengthened and supported to meet the demands of the digital transformation?

Format:

The 2021 programme will be offered online and will be conducted in English. It will feature a series of webinars
