Mauritania officially equipped to develop the Validation of Acquired Experience (VAE)

This important step forward for the national vocational training system will allow for the validation of skills acquired through formal and informal learning, with official recognition.

The decree defines the application and validation process and also provides for the possibility of defining advanced modules when deemed necessary. The institutionalization of VAE in Mauritania stems from the support IIEP-UNESCO-Dakar has provided since 2017 on this topic.

The VAE mechanism will be tested and developed in the Regional Partnership Frameworks in Mauritania, which the IIEP-Dakar also supports, for the CAP level of mechanic greaser for fishing, maintenance in agricultural machinery and general masonry.

The adoption of this decree in Mauritania is evidence of a political vision, increasingly present in West Africa, which aims to strengthen equity in national TVET systems.
