Two regional workshops were held in 2018 as part of this initiative.
- The first workshop held in June 2018 in Dakar/Senegal led to the adoption of a ministerial declaration on the need not only for ECOWAS countries to have operational National Certification Frameworks but also on the importance for ECOWAS countries to develop a regional certification framework.
- The second workshop held in Abuja/Nigeria in December 2018 lay the foundations for a community of practice within ECOWAS and for a "common language" for dialogue and cooperation in the field of recognition of competences and qualifications.
This third workshop in November 2019 has three main objectives:
- Exchange on the results of the self-assessment carried out in each country of the ECOWAS;
- Discuss on the implications of the AU work and agendas related to certification and mobility of competences at the continental level
- Support each country (national focal point) in the development of a national action plan for setting up a functional CNC (starting from the current situation of each country).
