The African Alliance for the Development of Vocational Training was launched on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 in Meknes, under an agreement signed to this effect between Morocco and 15 African countries (Morocco, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Djibouti, Gabon, Guinea Bissau, Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal, Chad and Togo).

This alliance, which aims to promote dialogue between vocational training operators in partner countries and to provide a framework for sharing experiences, know-how and exchange of expertise between these countries, has since been extended to 5 new countries (Guinea, Congo, Ghana, South Sudan, and Central African Republic).

The grouping of these countries also aims to strengthen exchanges between partners for the development of a vocational training strategy adapted and meeting the needs of the economic sectors of the partner countries, as well as to promote restructuring and upgrading initial and continuing training systems in partner countries, in particular in terms of technical assistance in engineering training for trainers.

The Alliance is managed by an executive committee made up of a representative of each signatory country, in addition to a representative of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB). The presidency of this Alliance will be held by Morocco for the first term.
