PEFOP Activities in Mauritania
The Implementation of Vocational Training Policy Reform support programme was launched in Mauritania late November 2015, with the initial obstacles analysis phase. The Ministry responsible for vocational training (MEFPTIC) and the IIEP-Pôle de Dakar formalized this collaboration by signing a partnership framework agreement on January 22, 2016.
Since 2015, IIEP-UNESCO Dakar has supported Mauritania in the implementation of numerous reforms and initiatives aimed at strengthening its national vocational training system.
Mauritania has set on May 20, 2020 by ministerial order the conditions for the implementation of the Validation of Acquired Experience (VAE) for the Certificates of Competence (CC), the Certificates of Vocational Aptitude (CAP) and the Technician Brevets (BT).
After a long process of consultation, design and validation, which began in July 2017, three Regional Partnership Frameworks (CRP) have been created by decree of the Minister of National Education and Vocational Training, for the agriculture, construction and public works and fisheries sectors, respectively for the Gorgol, Nouakchott and Nouadhibou regions.
Like most countries in the region, Mauritania is seeking to strengthen its vocational training system, taking into account the essential characteristics of its economy and labour market.

The Programme Contributing to the Operationalization of Reforms (PROCOR) is the 3-year planning document the IIEP-Pôle de Dakar will support via PEFOP to accompany the implementation of vocational education reforms, to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of projects and programmes, either current or undergoing design. This support is methodological in nature, taking the form of expertise mobilization, at the national and international levels, according to required profiles.
Friday, January 22, 2016 represents a symbolic day for the International Institute of Educational Planning and its Pôle de Dakar, through its Platform of Expertise in Vocational Training (PEFOP), with the signature of a partnership framework agreement with the Ministry of Employment, Vocational Training and Information and Communication Technology (MEFPTIC).
